Now that I've gotten my venting out of the way, Season 3 of "Orange is the New Black" is on track to be the best season yet, no matter how fast, or slow, you watch it. And while there's nothing stopping anyone from watching that way, what tends to get lost is the synchronized, post-episode group gab ritual. But each episode brings enough new developments, surprises, or terrific moments between characters that, to my mind, it would be even more satisfying to watch everything unfold week by week.

The first six episodes of "Orange is the New Black" Season 3 are, it's true, so immediately engrossing it's not hard to zip through them. But as Netflix continues to ramp up their original series, the idea of streaming episode after episode of a half-dozen shows begins to feel less like entertainment, and more like homework. That said, I love being able to record a show or access it on demand if I can't watch it when it first airs. Would moments like last week's jaw-dropping battle at Hardhome feel as special if everyone saw them at different times? I don't think so. I love the marination." The first six episodes made available for preview are so good, and engage us with so many characters in this peerless ensemble, that the only way it could be better is if viewers could talk amongst ourselves in the week between new episodes. But at the risk of being a killjoy, I wish the show was airing every week. Once again, all the episodes will be available for streaming on Netflix that day, so fans can dip in and out depending on their own schedules, and relative degrees of "OITNB" obsession. Binge-watchers will rejoice that "Orange is the New Black" returns for Season 3 on June 12.
